Cyclone Amphan Wreaks Havoc: Karan Johar And Shabana Azmi Pray For The People In Bengal And Odisha
The Cyclone Amphan is the strongest storm ever recorded in the Bay of Bengal and hit India’s eastern coastline on Wednesday. On Tuesday night, as the cyclonic storm approached the states of West Bengal and Odisha, until now, it has already taken lives amidst the pandemic in the country and has affected major parts in Kolkata. As the cyclonic storm Amphan has managed to create havoc in Kolkata and Odisha, celebrities Karan Johar and Shabana Azmi share messages on social media praying for the people.

Taking to Twitter, Karan Johar tweeted, “Can this year get any worse! Stay safe Bengal...All of us pray for your safety and protection.... #CyclonAmphan.” Talking about the year 2020, Karan asked if the year could get any worse with cyclone approaching India’s eastern coastline amidst the pandemic situation in the country. Karan Johar also prayed for the safety of the people in Bengal and asked one and all to pray for the safety and protection from cyclone Amphan.

Talking about Cyclone Amphan hitting the Eastern Indian coastline, veteran actress Shabana Azmi tweeted, “Thinking of Bengal and Odisha ..Terrifying visuals on TV . May all stay safe ..” In her tweet, the actress mentioned that she is thinking of the Bengal and Odisha as the cyclonic storm hits the states. The actress then went on to pray for everyone’s safety in the states affected by the cyclone after watching terrifying visuals on TV of the disaster the storm created.

Meanwhile, as heavy rains and high winds began lashing at West Bengal and Odisha, the cyclone Amphan was as strong as a category 3 Hurricane when it hit the eastern Indian coastline. The cyclone Amphan is the only second super cyclone that has hit the Bay of Bengal over the last two decades. In the year 1999, a super cyclone killed about 10,000 people as it hit India’ Odisha state.
